Currently closed for renovations, Belgrade’s botanical garden houses over 1.5 thousand valuable plant species and stretches across an area of about 5Ha. It also possesses and extensive library with over 13 thousand valuable units. Visitors can enjoy three gardens – the Japanese garden, the system parcel which contains Dicotyledon plant species (mostly flowering plants), and the large glass garden which contains many more exotic species, grouped geographically by continents they came from. The institute of botany is also located here and it owns an extremely valuable herbarium and a library which contains over 13 thousand valuable entries.
The Botanical garden is surrounded by important traffic lines and is therefore well-connected with all parts of the city. Sadly the garden is currently undergoing reconstruction and is not open for individual visitors.
